Almaty. Republic Square.

2007-02-07| Askar Isabekov

I didn't watch birds so long. Today I have gone to New (Republic) Square and have seen a little changes. February is not snowy and snow under birches and bushes was melted by warm air. There are much more Mynahs and Blackbirds. Saw Blackird washing in the puddle like at spring. The songs of a some birds are changed. Blackbirds not only chatter but yet sing. Greate Tits also sing more. Chaffinches, Bramblings, Great Tits feed in the shank leaves. Saw a flock (20-30 birds) of White-winged Grosbeaks. Grosbeaks are less scary than other birds. I have squated and Grosbeaks have not taken heed of me about ten minutes. One female have fed about one and half meters over me. Also I saw several Greenfinches. Greenfinches appear in Alma-Ata on early spring. On the spring you can hear everywere the songs of Greenfinches with specific whir. This year I heard Greenfinch's whir in the middle of February yet. Bramblings, Grosbeaks and Chaffinches have mostly fed but Greenfiches else gamed.
